Press Release
Central Executive Committee of Students’ Federation of India condemns in strongest possible words the brutal police lathi-charge against the students who had gathered at the Jodhpur collectorate in Rajasthan on the host of education related demands. It needs to be underlined that today was the 3rd day of the ongoing hunger strike demanding proper reimbursement of scholarship, linking scholarship to inflation and better infrastructure in the hostels. The ongoing momentum movement was being launched under the banner of ‘Chhatravritti Bachao, Chhatravaas Bachao andolan’ (Save Scholarships, Save Hostels movement) and had attracted wide support from the students in the district.

More than 25 students were injured in the indiscriminate lathi charge. SFI Rajasthan Vice-President Kishan Khuriwal and Jodhpur district secretary H.R. Bhati were specially targeted in the police lathi charge.

At a juncture when fund cuts in various social sector spendings by BJP-led government at centre and state governments are creating havoc in the daily life of various sections of society, we resolve to intensify movements across the country on such issues which are directly related to daily lives of student community. We express our solidarity to the valiant students of Jodhpur.
